AI use
This page will outline my AI usage.
I use AI very sparingly, preferring to create what I want by hand.
Concerns about AI
As a creative individual, software engineer, and consumer of creative content I have concerns about AI.
I find I do not enjoy stories written by AI very much. Early on I had ideas of creating some automated AI story generation tools. I decided not to because I just did not care for the quality. I also stopped reading a few authors who clearly started using AI in their books, based on the fragmented writing and the fact that they are now releasing a new book every week.
I love audio books but find those authors who have put out books using AI to read them I can no longer enjoy. One author in particular I can think of I loved reading his work, and I especially loved when Agro Squirrel Narrates on youtube narrated them. However, the author moved them to Audible using the AI narrations and it killed my love for the work, at least listening to it.
That said I do find AI a useful tool. I mainly use it to review error logs, create stock images for articles and categories, handle mundane tasks like making config files, and doing boilerplate work.
When I Use AI
My use of AI comes down to the following criteria.
- Doing the grunt work in my projects
- Doing jobs, like images for my blog, I would not pay anyone for and would always use some free alternative
